Third U.S. Air Force C-130 aircraft joins DoD efforts for wildland fire fighting

A third U.S. Air Force C-130 aircraft joined the Department of Defense’s efforts for wildland fire fighting in Western states, as requested by the USDA Forest Service. The air tanker arrived at McClellan Airbase in Sacramento, Calif., yesterday, and made three of the 13 retardant drops for the day.

North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command hosted a command senior enlisted leader change of responsibility ceremony where U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) Sgt. Maj. Paul McKenna transferred responsibility to USMC Sgt. Maj. James Porterfield, June 29.

DoD C-130 aircraft mobilize to support wildland firefighting efforts

Two U.S. Air Force C-130 aircraft equipped with Modular Airborne Fire Fighting Systems (MAFFS) began wildland firefighting operations in support of the National Interagency Fire Center over the Lava Fire in northern California Saturday, and have dropped nearly 20,000 gallons of fire retardant to date.

U.S. Donates Additional $500K towards COVID-19 Response in The Bahamas

On June 23, 2021, The Bahamas officially received $500,000 in additional public health assistance form the United States. The donation demonstrates the continued commitment by the United States government to supporting The Bahamas in the ongoing fight against COVID-19, as well as disaster response.

ARNORTH adjusts military COVID-19 vaccine support mission, prepared for future all-hazards response and homeland defense

At the request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, U.S. Army North, U.S. Northern Command's Joint Force Land Component Command, made final adjustments to its COVID-19 vaccine response operation today when military medical personnel from the U.S. Air Force departed the New Jersey Institute of Technology Naimoli Family Recreational Facility in Newark, New Jersey.

U.S. Helps Keep Bahamas Safe: Donates $5.9 Million in Boats, Comms Equipment to RBDF

On June 22, the United States government continued to demonstrate its commitment to shared security and safety of The Bahamas and the United States, donating three high-speed SAFE boats, radio communications equipment, and biometrics equipment to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF)—for a total value of about $5.9 million dollars.

U.S. Again Partners with Bahamas to Distribute COVID-19 Vaccines to Family Islands

On Monday, June 21, the Rhode Island National Guard (RING) began its second mission to partner with The Bahamas Ministry of Health and the National COVID-19 Vaccine Consultative Committee to distribute 7,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to eight Family Islands, with deliveries again planned for Mayaguana, Acklins Island, Crooked Island, Cat Island, Long Island, Inagua, Bimini, and Eleuthera.

CONR-1AF conducts first-ever in theater C-17 special refueling operations during AD 21-1

In support of the North American Aerospace Defense and Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) homeland defense missions, Continental U.S. NORAD Region – 1st Air Force (Air Forces Northern) achieved a first-ever milestone when U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the 140th Wing, Buckley Space Force Base, Aurora, Colo., and the 4th Airlift Squadron, McChord Air Force Base, Wash., performed a C-17 wet-wing refueling during exercise Amalgam Dart 21-01 at Thule Air Base, Greenland.
