U.S. Helps Keep Bahamas Safe: Donates $5.9 Million in Boats, Comms Equipment to RBDF

On June 22, the United States government continued to demonstrate its commitment to shared security and safety of The Bahamas and the United States, donating three high-speed SAFE boats, radio communications equipment, and biometrics equipment to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF)—for a total value of about $5.9 million dollars.

U.S. Again Partners with Bahamas to Distribute COVID-19 Vaccines to Family Islands

On Monday, June 21, the Rhode Island National Guard (RING) began its second mission to partner with The Bahamas Ministry of Health and the National COVID-19 Vaccine Consultative Committee to distribute 7,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to eight Family Islands, with deliveries again planned for Mayaguana, Acklins Island, Crooked Island, Cat Island, Long Island, Inagua, Bimini, and Eleuthera.

CONR-1AF conducts first-ever in theater C-17 special refueling operations during AD 21-1

In support of the North American Aerospace Defense and Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) homeland defense missions, Continental U.S. NORAD Region – 1st Air Force (Air Forces Northern) achieved a first-ever milestone when U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the 140th Wing, Buckley Space Force Base, Aurora, Colo., and the 4th Airlift Squadron, McChord Air Force Base, Wash., performed a C-17 wet-wing refueling during exercise Amalgam Dart 21-01 at Thule Air Base, Greenland.

USNORTHCOM and Special Operations Command North discuss the future of SOF for Homeland Defense

U.S. Special Operations Command North (SOCNORTH) hosted a Special Operations Forces in Competition and Homeland Defense Workshop from May 11-13, 2021. The workshop brought Special Operations leaders and experts from the Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Coast Guard and other security experts together to shape the future of Special Operations in support of Homeland Defense.

At the request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, approximately 30 Department of Defense military medical and support personnel will deploy to Kentucky to support federal vaccination efforts in partnership with the state.

U.S. Army North, U.S. Northern Command’s Joint Force Land Component Command, will host approximately 750 military and civilian personnel from across the country to take part in its annual disaster response training exercise, Vibrant Response, Apr. 26 to May 8, through virtual collaborative software.

4th Infantry Division Soldiers Round Off Vaccination Support at historic first DOD-supported vaccine site

The 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, deployed approximately 220 Soldiers to Los Angeles to assist the state of California and the Federal Emergency Management Agency in administering COVID-19 vaccinations to members of the Los Angeles community from Feb. 16 to April 11, at the California State University Los Angeles Community Vaccination Center. The site was the first vaccination site to receive support from active-duty service members.
