ARNORTH to oversee new military COVID-19 response in Texas, adjust support in two states

ARNORTH to adjust military COVID-19 response operation in four states, Navajo Nation
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — At the request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, approximately 150 military medical personnel from the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army began deploying this week to expand support to California, and approximately 40 U.S. Army Reserve medical personnel deployed to support Arizona as part of a Department of Defense COVID-19 support operation.

U.S. Army North (ARNORTH), the Joint Force Land Component Command of U.S Northern Command, will oversee the military operation in support of Federal efforts and the state.

At the request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, three U.S. Air Force Medical Specialty Teams, part of a Department of Defense COVID-19 operation in Texas, will begin to deploy today to El Paso. U.S. Army North, U.S. Northern Command’s Joint Force Land Component Command, will oversee the military operation in support of federal efforts and the state.

(AFNS) — Members of the 152nd Airlift Wing, Nevada Air National Guard activated July 29, the unit’s first firefighting activation in two years following a 2019 season that saw little need to request the military as a surge capacity for wildland fire suppression efforts.
