DoD units supporting DHS along Southwest Border

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — The Department of Homeland Security has requested the Department of Defense to provide a range of assistance, including planning, engineering, transportation, logistics and medical support to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Marine Sgt. Maj. Paul McKenna, Command Senior Enlisted Leader, North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and United States Northern Command (NORTHCOM), is briefed by members of Joint Task Force Civil Support (JTF-CS) July 13 on the command’s chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) equipment. McKenna visited JTF-CS for a tour of the headquarters of the nation’s only standing chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear response force. When directed, JTF-CS is ready to respond in 24 hours to provide command and control of 5,200 federal military forces located at more than 36 locations throughout the nation acting in support of civil authority response operations to save lives, prevent further injury, and provide critical support to enable community recover. SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Aircrew from the 152nd Airlift Wing, Reno, Nevada, perform water training drops using the U.S.D.A Forest Service's Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System in the Sierra mountain range east of Sacramento April 24. New JTF-CS Commanding General Returns to his Birthplace

Members of Joint Task Force Civil Support participated in the Vista Crossing Tabletop Exercise and International CBRN Summit hosted by U.S. Northern Command and held at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado June 12-13, 2018. The participants represented Federal and National Guard military, DoD civilians, and interagency and industry members. JTF-CS provides command and control for designated Department of Defense specialized response forces to assist local, state, federal and tribal partners in saving lives, preventing further injury, and providing critical support to enable community recovery.
