Lt. Gen. Guy Swan III, commanding general, U.S. Army North, presents the Purple Heart award to Sgt. Maj. Daniel Adle during a ceremony Jan. 8 at the Army North headquarters. Adle, while serving with the 1st Cavalry Division, was injured in Iraq’s Diyala Province on April 7, 2007 during a complex attack by terrorists using small-arms fire, grenades and improvised-explosive devices. Following the presentation of his award, Adle thanked his wife, Kum Yo Adle, for taking care of him as he went through his recovery process as well as for her support throughout the years.

His Excellency Arturo Sarukhan, ambassador of Mexico to the United States, visits with Gen. Gene Renuart, NORAD and U.S. Northcom commander, and other command leaders during his visit here July 22 and 23. Sarukhan's two-day visit was an opportunity for dialogue regarding many common objectives between the two countries as well as to reiterate that Mexico and USNORTHCOM maintain collaborative relations, based on trust, confidence and respect for each country's sovereignty.
