Renuart was in Greeneville, S.C., observing the annual certification exercise for the Modular Airborne Fire Fighting Systems. MAFFS is a partnership between the Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Agriculture forest service and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and provides an additional capability to boost fire suppression efforts during busy wildfire seasons. The certification exercise prepares Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve Command crews in preparation for the fire season.
