MAFFS C-130s to assist firefighting efforts

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — Military C-130s equipped with a U.S. Forest Service Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System departed to support ongoing aerial fire fighting efforts in the Western U.S.

New York Army National Guard CH-47 F model left the Army Aviation Support Facility in Rochester, N.Y. for Stratton Air National Guard Base in Schenectady, N.Y. on July 27, 2016, aviators and crew members from Detachment 1, Company B, 3rd Battalion 126th Aviation Regiment picked up service members from the New York National Guard’s 2nd Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team (CST) and landed at the Burlington Air National Guard Base in Vermont. The Battalion is part of the 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade.

New York Guard team catches unusual ride to work for Vigilant Guard exercise

STRATTON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, N.Y. — A 5 a.m. commute in a 50,000 pound Army helicopter isn't a normal morning commute for most people, but for the National Guard members of the 2nd Civil Support Team—military personnel specially trained to find chemical, biological, and radiological weapons—it's just another day in the office.

Common defense leads to unique partnership

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — On the grounds of Peterson Air Force Base, there is a building housing one of the most unique military commands in the world. The North American Aerospace Defense Command is a well-known entity, associated with more than a few classified mysteries. However, one thing many people do not know is unclassified.

Lt. Gen. Daniel Hokanson, Deputy Commander of U.S. Northern Command, and Mr. Peter Neffenger, Administrator for the Transportation Security Administration, talk just before entering headquarters of North American Aerospace Defense Command and USNORTHCOM. Neffenger was at the command talking with senior NORAD and USNORTHCOM officials on the importance of current information sharing between TSA and the two commands and to share Neffenger’s vision for mitigating current and future threats to transportation both in the homeland and abroad.

TSA Administrator visits NORAD and USNORTHCOM Headquarters

July 26, 2016 — PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colorado - During a recent visit to the North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command headquarters in Colorado Springs, the head of the Transportation Security Administration reaffirmed that sharing information at all levels between federal agencies is critical to the success of security and homeland defense-focused organizations.
