Common defense leads to unique partnership

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — On the grounds of Peterson Air Force Base, there is a building housing one of the most unique military commands in the world. The North American Aerospace Defense Command is a well-known entity, associated with more than a few classified mysteries. However, one thing many people do not know is unclassified.

Lt. Gen. Daniel Hokanson, Deputy Commander of U.S. Northern Command, and Mr. Peter Neffenger, Administrator for the Transportation Security Administration, talk just before entering headquarters of North American Aerospace Defense Command and USNORTHCOM. Neffenger was at the command talking with senior NORAD and USNORTHCOM officials on the importance of current information sharing between TSA and the two commands and to share Neffenger’s vision for mitigating current and future threats to transportation both in the homeland and abroad.

TSA Administrator visits NORAD and USNORTHCOM Headquarters

July 26, 2016 — PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colorado - During a recent visit to the North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command headquarters in Colorado Springs, the head of the Transportation Security Administration reaffirmed that sharing information at all levels between federal agencies is critical to the success of security and homeland defense-focused organizations.

CONR- 1st Air Force (Air Forces Northern) changes leadership

TYNDALL AFB, Fla. — Top leadership of the Continental U.S. Aerospace Defense Region – 1st Air Force, (Air Forces Northern) organization changed here during a change of command ceremony today.

Army Assistant Secretary visits NORAD, NORTHCOM

Peterson Air Force Base — The Honorable Katherine Hammack, Assistant Secretary of the Army, visited NORAD and USNORTHCOM June 29, 2016, to discuss Army installations with Gen. Lori Robinson, commander of NORAD and NORTHCOM.

A Transfer of Authority ceremony held to recognize the realignment of the Civil Air Patrol-U.S. Air Force – or CAP-USAF – from Air Education and Training Command to Air Combat Command began with the arrival of a CAP C-182 Cessna carrying CAP’s National Commander CAP Maj. Gen. Joe Vazquez and the CAP-USAF commander, Col. Mike Tynismaa. The aircraft landed and approached Tyndall Air Force Base’s base operations, rolling through a ceremonial greeting of fire trucks pumping arching water sprays high over the aircraft.
