USNORTHCOM continues support to wildfire suppression efforts - June 30
PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. - Four Department of Defense C-130 aircraft equipped with U.S. Forest Service Modular Airborne Fire Fighting Systems (MAFFS) and under the command and control of U.S. Northern Command are assisting in efforts to control fires in the Rocky Mountain region at the request of the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) in Boise, Idaho. Four additional MAFFS aircraft will be arriving today to assist with firefighting efforts within the Rocky Mountain Region.
As of early Saturday morning June 30, DoD aircraft have completed the following:
The supporting units are the 302nd Airlift Wing, Air Force Reserve, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. and the 153rd Airlift Wing Wyoming Air National Guard, that are currently flying missions out of Peterson AFB, Colo.
