Air Force Reserve aerial porters with the 302nd Airlift Wing's 39th Aerial Port Squadron make the final push to load a U.S. Forest Service Modular Airborne Firefighting System II (MAFFS II) unit into a C-130 Sept. 9 at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. FEMA workers arrived at Simmons Army Air Field, Aug. 23, in preparation for Hurricane Irene. The first group of FEMA staff set up the Incident Staging Base in the corner of the air field prepared to welcome over 40 FEMA truck throughout the night and more arriving Aug. 24. FEMA will work hand in hand with the Army Corps of Engineers to ensure Fort Bragg's safety as the hurricane approaches the coastline.
