Community leaders from the state of Georgia are greeted by Maj. Gen. Daniel York, Director of Reserve Forces at NORAD and USNORTHCOM, Aug. 19, 2016.  The community leaders were part of a civic leader tour and were flown to Colorado by the 94th Airlift Wing from Dobbins ARB, Ga.  The experience allowed the civic leaders to gain a clearer understanding of the roles and missions of various military organizations with an emphasis on the Air Force Reserve.

U.S. Air Force Gen. Lori Robinson, North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command commander gives command of Alaskan NORAD Region and Alaskan Command to U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach during a change of command ceremony Aug. 16 at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.  Wilsbach also assumed command of 11th Air Force from Gen. Robinson was briefed on the mission and challenges on the U.S. border. She also toured the U.S. southern border via helicopter. NORTHCOM is a mission partner with the CBP. 
Joint Task Force – West (JTF-W) is part of the Department of Homeland Security's Southern Border and Approaches Campaign Plan. This joint task force structure focuses cross-departmental and integrated counter-network operations on strategic objectives across four geographical corridors. Area networks within the JTF-W Joint Operating Area include supporting components, Department of Defense Commands, International, State, Local, and Tribal entities.  JTF-W efforts are designed to extend the border and institutionalize an asymmetric operational agility, effectiveness, and impact against targeted Transnational Criminal Organization (TCO) networks.
