USS Cole Assists Royal Canadian Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, Conduct At-Sea Transfer of Intercepted Contraband

The Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG 67), supporting maritime southern border operations, conducted a hold-and-transfer of 245 kilograms of contraband recovered by the Royal Canadian Navy Harry DeWolf-class offshore patrol vessel HMCS William Hall (AOPV 433) in the Caribbean Sea June 9. The Reliance-class U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Cutter Vigorous (WMEC 627) accepted the contraband from the Cole’s embarked USCG Law Enforcement Detachment (LEDET) June 11 during a rendezvous at sea in the Caribbean.

Update to DoD Federal Protection Mission - June 11, 2025 

By direction of Secretary of Defense and in coordination with U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), approximately 4,000 California Army National Guard soldiers were placed under federal command and control in a Title 10 status. Additionally, approximately 700 Marines are augmenting the force.  All are serving under the command of Task Force 51 (TF 51).

Task Force Sapper enhances southern border security with innovative barrier obstacle design

In direct support of U.S. Border Patrol (USBP), Task Force Sapper Marines, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB) completed the emplacement of a two-tier concertina wire (c-wire) obstacle on June 7, 2025, along a key section of the U.S. – Mexico border, enhancing deterrence measures and maintaining the territorial integrity of the United States.
