U.S Army Sgt. Devin Sawyer and Staff Sgt. Jennifer Saaveda, both with 176th Engineering Company, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, operate the Mobile Vehicle Surveillance System to protect the southern border in Laredo, Texas, August 20, 2026. The advanced surveillance technology provides enhanced monitoring capabilities to support ongoing border security and force protection operations in the region. U.S. Northern Command is working side by side with the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
