U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, showcase advanced surveillance technologies near Rio Grande Valley, Texas, July 16, 2026. The equipment displayed includes the Dronebuster system, which detects and counters unauthorized drones; the Skydio drone, providing agile aerial imaging; and the Ground Based Operational Surveillance System, which delivers wide-area monitoring from above. U.S. Northern Command is working side by side with the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, within narrowly defined authorities, to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
