U.S. service members assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB) conduct an engineer reconnaissance to survey key terrain in Sierra Vista, Ariz., June 9, 2026. The survey supports JTF-SB planning for future mobility operations aimed at improving road conditions to access higher-elevation key terrain. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
