JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska - Two U.S. Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II aircraft assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 533, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, conducts aerial refueling operations with a KC-130J Hercules on Aug. 18, 2025, near Cold Bay, Alaska, during Arctic Edge 2025 (AE25). Aerial refueling extends aircraft range and endurance, allowing U.S. and partner forces to operate longer and respond more effectively to missions worldwide. AE25 is a North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command-led homeland defense exercise designed to improve readiness, demonstrate capabilities, and enhance Joint and Allied Force interoperability in the Arctic.
