The two leaders discussed the military's support of civil authorities during natural and man-made disasters in the U.S.  USNORTHCOM's civil support mission includes domestic disaster relief operations that occur during fires, hurricanes, floods and earthquakes. The command provides assistance to a lead federal agency, such as FEMA, when tasked by the Department of Defense.
