Storm water from Hurricane Sandy flows out of a basement Nov. 7, 2012, at the Redfern Housing complex, Rockaway, N.Y. Despite working in difficult weather conditions, the 401st Quartermaster Detachment, Lock Haven, Pa., utilizes large pumps, capable of pumping 600 gallons per minute, to remove the water from areas most effected by Hurricane Sandy. Once the water is removed, necessary work will begin to restore utilities to the complex. The unit is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, state, local and city officials.
