The U.S. Forest Service-led training was designed to ensure the Air Force Reserve MAFFS crews are ready for the upcoming 2012 firefighting season and included 12 hours of ground training and 35 C-130 training missions in southern Colorado. Air Force Reserve MAFFS-equipped C-130s can be requested by the National Interagency Fire Center and then activated through the U.S. Northern Command, based on an agreement with the Department of Defense.
