Mexican Special Forces give a breaching demonstration to Gen. George W. Casey Jr., at a military camp outside Mexico City, Mexico, Aug. 4, 2010. Casey met with Gen. Guillermo Galvan-Mexico's Secretary of National Defense-this week in Mexico City as part of a continuing effort to expand the partnership between two neighbors bound by a shared future and common understanding of security.

"The primary focus of this week's meetings was for the generals to discuss issues of shared importance to their respective troops--both of which face the challenges of operating in an era of persistent conflict. The meetings included discussions about border issues, partnership and cooperation, leveraging lessons learned from the U.S. Army's effort to put itself on a rotational cycle, and the importance of sustaining military families," said U.S. Lt. Gen. Guy Swan--the commanding general of Army North, which is the Army component responsible for Theater Security Cooperation with Mexico and Canada.

The meetings were productive, as both Gen. Casey and Gen. Galvan acknowledged their interconnectedness, and expressed a desire to continue strengthening their ties and common vision with increased partnership and cooperation.
