NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO (Dec. 19, 2024) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance (DDG 111) returns to its homeport of San Diego Dec. 19, 2024. Spruance, assigned to Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, was underway conducting routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations. As an integral part of U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. 3rd Fleet operates naval forces in the Indo-Pacific in addition to providing realistic and relevant training necessary to flawlessly execute our Navy's timeless roles of sea control and power projection. U.S. 3rd Fleet works in close coordination with other numbered fleets to provide commanders with capable, ready forces to deploy forward and win in day-to-day competition, in crisis, and in conflict. The Air Force Reserve’s 302d Airlift Wing at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado, was activated by U.S. Northern Command on Jan 9, 2025, along with three Air National Guard units to provide aerial firefighting support in Southern California. The 302 AW  C-130H aircraft equipped with the U.S. Forest Service-owned Modular Airborne Fire Fighting Systems (MAFFS) and associated wing personnel departed from Peterson SFB Jan 11, 2025. They will be located and operate out of Channel Islands Air National Guard Station in Port Hueneme, California.
