Acting SECDEF visits NORAD and USNORTHCOM

Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan visited North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command Headquarters today to discuss the topics of homeland defense, missile defense and the Arctic.

During his visit, Shanahan viewed an air defense and a ballistic missile defense demonstration in the NORAD and USNORTHCOM command center, and had a roundtable discussion with command leaders.

North American Aerospace Defense Command deters, detects, and defeats air threats to the United States and Canada and provides aerospace and maritime warning.

United States Northern Command deters, detects, and defeats threats to the United States, conducts security cooperation activities with allies and partners, and supports civil authorities.
