UPDATE: DOD DEPLOYS ACTIVE DUTY UNITS TO SOUTHWEST BORDER

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. —

Below is an updated summary, as of Nov. 7, 2018, on Department of Defense support to Department of Homeland Security:

 

There are currently more than 5,600 personnel deployed in support of Customs and Border Protection. The number will fluctuate as more units and personnel deploy into the operating area. DOD anticipates more than 7,000 active duty troops will be supporting CBP.

 

Approximate breakdown of military personnel supporting in the border states includes:

o    1,300 in California

o    1,500 in Arizona

o    2,800 in Texas
