Ground-Based Missile Defense Units in North America reassigned to U.S. Northern Command

Effective Oct. 1, 2023, the 100th Missile Defense Brigade, Schriever Space Force Base, Colo., and its subordinate unit, 49th Missile Defense Battalion, Fort Greely, Alaska, are assigned to U.S. Northern Command. This move aligns the units that operate the Ground-based Midcourse Defense system under the combatant command responsible for missile defense of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.
