U.S. Northern Command Wraps Up Arctic Edge 2025

U.S. Northern Command successfully concluded Arctic Edge 2025, a joint and combined multi-domain Field Training Exercise (FTX) conducted across Alaska from Aug. 1-31, 2025. The exercise demonstrated readiness, enhanced interoperability, and advanced capabilities in the Arctic region.

UPDATE: 302d AW Aerial Firefighting Aircraft Repositioned to Idaho, Stats for Colorado, Wyoming

One aircraft from the Air Force Reserve’s 302d Airlift Wing repositioned to Idaho Aug. 25 to continue support for western wildfires. The wing has been providing aerial firefighting support in Colorado and Wyoming since August 9.

USNORTHCOM Now Operating in Yuma National Defense Area

Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB) service members, under the direction of U.S. Northern Command, are now operating in the Yuma National Defense Area (YNDA) with installation security support authorities and are responsible for operations in the NDA including, patrolling, temporary detention of unauthorized personnel, maintenance, construction, and upgrade of existing and planned border barrier on the NDA.

U.S. Northern Command to conduct Arctic Edge 2025

U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) will conduct ARCTIC EDGE 2025, a joint and combined multi-domain Field Training Exercise (FTX) in various locations throughout Alaska from Aug. 1-31, 2025. Municipalities closest to the designated military exercise operating areas include Anchorage, Cold Bay, Delta Junction, Fairbanks, Kotzebue, and Nome.

U.S. Coast Guard, USS Sampson conduct drug interdiction in Eastern Pacific

The U.S. Coast Guard, in coordination with the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Sampson (DDG 102), interdicted two suspected drug smugglers, and seized approximately 3,439 pounds of cocaine in international waters of the Eastern Pacific Ocean July 10.

USNORTHCOM to Provide DoD Support to ICE

Approximately 200 Marines from Marine Wing Support Squadron 272, Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina, are conducting a movement to Florida, to augment U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) interior immigration enforcement mission with critical administrative and logistical capabilities at locations as directed by ICE.

At the recommendation of Gen. Gregory M. Guillot, Commander, U.S. Northern Command, and approved by the Secretary of Defense, Task Force 51 will release approximately 150 members of the California National Guard from the Federal Protection mission today.

Mexican Defense Leaders Visit NORAD and USNORTHCOM Headquarters to Strengthen Bilateral Security Cooperation

Gen. Gregory M. Guillot, Commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), hosted Gen. Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, Secretary of National Defense of Mexico, and Adm. USS Cole Assists Royal Canadian Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, Conduct At-Sea Transfer of Intercepted Contraband

The Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG 67), supporting maritime southern border operations, conducted a hold-and-transfer of 245 kilograms of contraband recovered by the Royal Canadian Navy Harry DeWolf-class offshore patrol vessel HMCS William Hall (AOPV 433) in the Caribbean Sea June 9. The Reliance-class U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Cutter Vigorous (WMEC 627) accepted the contraband from the Cole’s embarked USCG Law Enforcement Detachment (LEDET) June 11 during a rendezvous at sea in the Caribbean.
