NORAD and USNORTHCOM Commander General Gregory M. Guillot Meets with Mexican Military Leadership in Veracruz
PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. – Gen. Greg Guillot, Commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), joined Mexico’s military leadership, Adm. Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles, Secretary of the Navy of Mexico (MARINA), and Gen. Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, Secretary of National Defense of Mexico (DEFENSA), for a series of strategic engagements in Veracruz, Mexico, July 22, 2026.
Hosted by Adm. Morales at the epicenter of the Mexican Navy, this visit marks a significant milestone in the bilateral defense relationship. The leaders discussed key strategic interests, including specialized counter-cartel and special operations training, information sharing, and force protection cooperation regarding Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and how to best counter them. They also reviewed the North American Maritime Security Initiative (NAMSI) and other regional security efforts.
Over the course of these reciprocal visits, the senior leaders have transformed a strong professional partnership into an outstanding personal bond. This relationship establishes a vital foundation for expanding military-to-military collaboration into new strategic areas.

"The engagements we had here in Veracruz underscore our deep mutual trust and commitment to addressing complex regional challenges alongside our Mexican partners."
Together, the leaders emphasized a continued commitment to strengthening cooperation to defend North America, while reinforcing mutual trust, respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and shared and differentiated responsibility.
