PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. –
Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officers from the Federal Emergency Management Agency Region 8 gathered at the 302d Airlift Wing, May 2, 2026, to learn about the Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System (MAFFS) mission.
EPLOs are specially trained and experienced military reserve component officers who assist Defense Coordinating Officers and civilian authorities nationwide during natural or man-made disasters and national special security events.
Together the DCO and EPLO network ensures U.S. Northern Command, through the service components, can help federal, state, local, tribal and territorial leaders understand the unique military capabilities of the Department of War and what type of military support is available and best suited to respond to any emergency.
