U.S. Northern Command

Approximately 13,000 U.S. Marines and Sailors participated in an annual exercise at the Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif. in December 2019.

Exercise Steel Knight 20 included an amphibious landing and assault through a combat town on Red Beach at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Steel Knight is an annual exercise that spans the western United States and California coast. It focuses on ground fires, maneuver warfare tactics and command and control capabilities, in order to test Marines and Sailors across a range of environments and preparing to counter aggression against a near-peer threat.
