USNORTHCOM & USPACECOM train GFPs

U.S. Northern Command and U.S. Space Command teamed up with The Joint Staff to train gender focal points (GFPs) from both commands on how to implement Women, Peace and Security across missions such as security cooperation, defense support of civil authorities, and military exercises.

U.S. and Mexico incorporate ‘Women, Peace, and Security Program’ in ‘Fuerzas Amigas 2022’

The U.S. military conducted exercise Fuerzas Amigas 2022 with the Mexican military Oct. 16-21, 2022, at Campo Militar Reynosa in Reynosa, Mexico. Fuerzas Amigas is an annual bilateral exercise focused on defense support of civil authorities and Mexico’s National Defense Plan – III-E. The exercise aims to strengthen the bilateral military-to-military partnership conducting disaster response operations along the U.S.-Mexico border. This year’s exercise included a Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) objective for the first time, integrating a gender perspective into exercise planning, design, and execution in support of our mutual WPS objectives.

U.S. Northern Command Supports DHS with Active Duty Personnel

At the request of the Department of Homeland Security and with approval from the Secretary of Defense, 1,500 active duty military service members under the command and control of U.S. Northern Command will deploy to the U.S. southwest border in the coming days to provide support to Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

U.S. Northern Command Update on Recovery Operations

At the direction of the President of the United States, fighter aircraft assigned to U.S. Northern Command successfully took down a high altitude airborne object off the northern coast of Alaska at 1:45 pm Eastern Standard Time Feb. 10 within U.S. sovereign airspace over U.S. territorial water.

U.S. Northern Command recommended that search operations conclude today near Deadhorse, Alaska, and on Lake Huron, as search activities have discovered no debris from airborne objects shot down on Feb. 10 and Feb. 12, 2023.
